sliders...with the best of them.

i'm trying to mix things up a bit after
the holiday falderal
by making these whiskey turkey meatball sliders.

spicy whiskey bbq sliders

2 lbs ground turkey
4 tbsp of butter
1 large onion ~ chopped
1/2 cup whiskey(i used canadian club)
1 cup barbecue sauce(i used pat's barbecue)
seasonings of choice
(i used season~all salt, salt and pepper grinder, montreal steak seasoning)

i've taken 2 pounds ground turkey added
a smidgen of italian bread crumbs, salt and pepper,
season salt, montreal seasoning and made them into
meat balls. i salt and peppered them again before frying with the grinder.

then melt 4 tablespoons of butter in a skillet on medium and fry the meatballs about 3 to 4 minutes on each side or until browned nicely.
place the meatballs on a plate and set aside.

once the meatballs are done and set aside...add the whole chopped onion  into the same frying pan with all the wonderful bits and pieces of browned meat that are left in the fry pan.

brown the onions for several minutes. then add the whiskey
and whisk it around to let the dark buttery
                    pieces mix together.

let the whiskey reduce for about 4/5 minutes.

once reduced add the cup of barbecue sauce and
let simmer for a few more minutes.

let it bubble and boil a bit.

once that looks good...add back in the meatballs...let simmer.  make sure you turn over the meatballs to get thoroughly coated.

i browned the slider buns in the oven and
then served the barbecue meatballs over the buns
along side some homemade fries.

we thoroughly enjoyed these.
i will be making these again for sure.
